Orchha Sightseeing Tour
Orchha is highly picturesque, seemingly remote and a little abandoned, Orchha captures ones imagination. Set on an island in the Betwa River the Bundela chief Raja Rudra Pratap chose a beautiful site for his 16th century capital, building a fort palace which is still surrounded by wooded countryside and unsploit views. The three main palaces, Raj Mahal, Jahangir Mahal and Rai Praveen Mahal lie symmetrically together and are a mass of pavilions, turreted walls, gateways, and frescoed walls. The old town is dominated by three attractive temples and lying beside the River Betwa is a series of 14 hauntingly beautiful Chattris of the Orchha rulers. Afternoon proceed for sightseeing tour of Orchha visiting the temples of Orchha a series of magnificent temples, dating back to the 17th century. They are still in use today and visited regularly by thousands of devotees. The soaring spires of Ram Raja Temple and the well-preserved murals of the Lakshmi Narayan Temple are especially worth a visit. Along with the temples 14 beautiful Chhattris (cenotaphs) or memorials are lined up on the Kanchana Glut of the river Betwa. Later visit Phool Bagh the walled Phool Bagh or Flower Gardens is a cool summer retreat.

Gwalior is an important city of Madhya Pradesh in India. Gwalior is an old city, known for its old and massive forts. The legend says, Gwalior derives its name from a great sage Gwalipa who cured a chief of the Kachwaha clan suffering from leprosy. Today, Gwalior is one of the most developed cities of India with factories producing cotton, yarn, paint, ceramics, chemicals, and leather products. The city is also famous for many esteemed educational institutions.

Visit the Jai Vilas Palace; part of the Palace is the present Maharaja of Scindia’s residence and some 35 rooms house the Scindia Museum. This idiosyncratic collection of royal possessions and memorabilia would be greatly enhanced by a good curator yet some items are interesting. Inside the extraordinary Durbar Hall hang two of the world’s largest chandeliers each weighing 3 ½ tons and it is alleged that the strength of the roof was tested with the weight of 8 elephants. The impressive Palace building built in the late 19th century resembles an Italian palazzo using painted sandstone to imitate marble.

Then we proceed to view one of the most spectacular Forts of the Mughal Heritage Agra Fort Agra Fort is an Unesco World Heritage site built alongside the Yamuna river located in Agra. It is stretches about 2.5 kms. Agra fort one of the important fort in India. It is also known as Lal Qila, and Agra Fort.. Akbar chose this city on the bank of River Yamuna as his capital and proceeded to build a strong citadel for the purpose. Eemperor Shah Jahan, had built the Taj, was imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb in the Agra Fort where he had a view on the building erected for his deceased wife. It took 8 yeas and huge amount of money to complete its construction. Agra Fort in Agra contains beautiful mosques - Nagina Masjid , Meena Masjid, Sheesh Mahal, Khas Mahal and Meena Bazar.

After Breakfast Drive to Jaipur en-route visiting Fatehpur Sikri an eerily abandoned capital from the Mughal Empire between 1570 and 1586. Akbar built this city to celebrate the birth of his son and future heir to the throne, Emperor Jahangir. While Akbar is believed to have been illiterate, he took great interest in the arts and architecture
Fatehpur Sikri is one of his masterworks. Sadly, it served as capital for little more than a decade, eventually abandoned for lack of accessible water.

After Breakfast Start with an exhilarating excursion to Amber Fort perched on top of a hill. A royal ride on elephant (subject to availability) up the hill like the Maharajas of past times and visit the Jagmandir (the hall of victory). Perched on a hillside on the outskirts of town, the palace was constructed in the 1590s by Maharaja Man Singh, the commander of Akbar’s army, and was largely motivated by the highly defensible location. This is a beautiful and very well preserved structure, built on four levels and surrounded by ruins, which served as the backdrop for the Mira Nair movie “Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love.” Afternoon: View the grand Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds). This magnificent structure was built to allow the royal ladies ofthe palace to discretely watch the grand processions along the main street, City Palace and impressive Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory built in the early 1700s by Maharaja Jai Sing II, the great warriorastronomer to which this city owes its name.
